The Head of Group Risk is the enterprise risk management leader for Inghams across Australia and New Zealand. Reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, this role leads the strategic direction, maturity roadmap and governance of Inghams’ Risk Management function — developing and implementing the frameworks, standards and risk appetite that help enable the Board, Executive and operational leaders to make informed decisions about risk.
This is a senior leadership role that operates at the intersection of strategy and governance. The Head of Group Risk works directly with the General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer to steer Board and Executive risk committees, shapes the organisation’s risk culture and ensures Inghams’ risk management maturity continues to strengthen. The role provides functional leadership to the Senior Risk Manager and broader risk community, including risk owners across the ANZ network.
Key responsibilities:
- Own Inghams’ Enterprise Risk Management function across ANZ - set the multi-year maturity roadmap, define priorities and lead programs of work that progressively strengthen risk management capability across ANZ
- Design and maintain the Risk Appetite Framework, ensuring risk tolerances are clearly defined, Board-approved, and embedded into decision-making
- Partner with the General Counsel and CFO to steer Board and Executive risk governance committees
- Own and embed Inghams’ Risk Management Policy and associated standards, ensuring they remain current, practical and aligned to ISO 31000 and other relevant frameworks
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership team to drive strategic risk management that enables delivery of the broader organisational strategy
- Support targeted risk assurance activities on major projects, capital investments and strategic initiatives to ensure risk exposures are identified, assessed and appropriately managed before commitments are made
- Build the capability of risk owners through training, coaching,
and practical frameworks that enable the business to manage risk effectively at the point of ownership
- Facilitate risk, business continuity, and scenario-testing workshops that are practical, engaging and lead to actionable outcomes
- Develop and lead the Business Continuity Management framework across the ANZ network, ensuring plans are current, tested and capable of supporting operational resilience
- Support third-party risk management, designing and implementing effective controls for key supplier, contractor and partner exposures on a risk-prioritised basis
- Assess Inghams’ risk management maturity against ISO 31000 and relevant industry benchmarks, and translate assessment outcomes into prioritised improvement actions
- Own and govern Inghams’ risk management SaaS platform
- Champion a risk-aware culture across Inghams, integrating strategic risk management into business planning, project governance and operational decision-making
Key requirements:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in enterprise risk management, with at least 3 years at a Head of / senior leadership level
- Demonstrated experience setting functional strategy, building risk maturity, and reporting to Board and Executive risk governance committees
- Deep knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks (ISO 31000), risk appetite and tolerance design, business continuity management and third-party risk
- Experience with risk management SaaS platforms
- Proven ability to lead a function, develop team capability, and build a risk-aware culture through influence rather than authority. Comfortable operating as a senior leader across geographies
- Preferred: relevant industry experience across food and beverage, FMCG, or manufacturing sectors and an understanding of operational risk in vertically integrated supply chain environments
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and confidence presenting to Board and Executive audiences.
- Relevant degree in Business, Commerce, Law, Engineering or related discipline. Qualified risk management certification highly regarded.
