Salary package: $178,844 to $233,619 per annum (paid pro rata for part-time staff) plus 17% superannuation

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading medical program and help shape the future of medical education in Australia and comes at a time where ANU has made a major investment in the medical program and School of Medicine and Psychology. ANU has a high-quality medical program which is currently undergoing a substantial revision expanding clinical placements, enhancing Indigenous Health through the program and with plans to implement a world first longitudinal evidenced based student development program.
The Position The Head of Medical Program will be responsible for the development, delivery and continuous improvement and update of the MChD / Medical program. This will include evaluation within the University's education framework and policies and satisfying the accreditation requirements of the Australian Medical Council.
The Person The Head of Medical Program will have an excellent working relationship with the local health sector, and particularly with the SMP Clinical Schools, to support the curriculum taught in clinical settings. They will be expected to work collegially, leading by example to develop and maintain effective, productive and beneficial workplace relationships with all academic, clinical and professional Hospital, School and College staff, students and honorary appointees, as well as with industry stakeholders. A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent)
and extensive experience working successfully with medical and/or health professionals to effectively deliver medical education programs with previous senior leadership experience in a Medical School, Clinical School or similar health or university setting, is required.
The School The School of Medicine and Psychology (SMP) was established in 2023 to bring together expertise from Medicine and Psychology to develop a unique educational and research environment. The focus is to produce psychologists, researchers, and medical graduates who practice compassion, conscience and professional excellence, and with a knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and culture. The school partners with a number of healthcare organisations to deliver teaching and training including but not limited to ACT Health, community practices throughout the ACT and Southeastern NSW.
The College The ANU College of Science and Medicine encompasses the disciplines of: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environment and Society, Mathematics, Physics, and Science Communication and is also home to a number of cross-disciplinary and specialist Institutes and Centres. Staff and students within the ANU College of Science and Medicine conduct research and deliver a research-led education program that encompasses the breadth of the sciences,
supported by extensive international networks and by world-class facilities.
