Senior in-house employment role | Purpose-led organisation | Broad workplace relations remit
Role can be based Gold Coast, Lismore or Coffs Harbour An excellent opportunity for an experienced employment lawyer to join the in-house legal and workplace relations function of a highly regarded, purpose-driven organisation.
This is a genuinely varied role offering the opportunity to act as a trusted legal adviser to senior People & Culture stakeholders and leaders across the organisation, with exposure to complex and interesting workplace matters.
The role
You will provide specialist legal and strategic advice across a broad range of employment and workplace relations issues, including:
- Complex employee relations matters, including misconduct, performance, redundancy and ill-health termination
- Enterprise agreements, awards, employment contracts and workplace legislation
- Leading and overseeing workplace investigations, including sensitive and complex matters
- Major change and consultation processes
- Employment disputes and industrial tribunal matters
- Industrial issues and workers' compensation matters
- Workplace policies, frameworks and compliance initiatives
- Developing and delivering workplace relations training
- Working closely with senior stakeholders and external advisers to manage legal and organisational risk
About you
You will be an experienced employment lawyer with 5+ years' relevant experience , either in private practice or in-house, with strong technical expertise and the confidence to provide pragmatic advice to senior stakeholders.
You will ideally have
- Strong employment and workplace relations experience
- Excellent knowledge of enterprise agreements, awards and employment legislation
- Experience managing complex investigations and employee relations matters
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills
- The ability to translate complex legal issues into transparent, practical advice
- Excellent judgement and the ability to manage multiple complex matters
