Our client is a highly regarded Australian institutional stockbroking firm with an established global reach seeking an experienced Institutional Sales Trader to join its Melbourne team. The firm has built a strong reputation within the Australian small and mid-cap market, underpinned by a highly regarded research franchise across the Resources and Industrials sectors. Working closely with the Institutional Sales and Equity Research teams, you will provide high-quality execution services and market insight to a broad institutional client base. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Institutional Sales Trader to join a collaborative, high-performing team and play an integral role in servicing and growing institutional client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Execute Australian equity orders for domestic and international institutional clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional fund managers and buy-side trading desks.
- Provide timely market colour, liquidity updates and execution insights.
- Work closely with the Institutional Sales and Equity Research teams to deliver exceptional client service.
- Support corporate access initiatives, including company roadshows, conferences and investor meetings.
- Ensure best execution while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and internal obligations.
- Contribute to the ongoing growth of the firm's institutional client franchise.
The successful candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in institutional equities sales trading, institutional dealing or a similar front-office execution role.
- Demonstrated experience executing Australian equity orders for institutional clients.
- Robust understanding of Australian equity markets and best execution practices.
- Existing relationships with domestic and/or international institutional investors and buy-side trading desks will be highly regarded.
- A genuine interest in Australian small and mid-cap companies, across both the Resources and Industrials sectors.
- Excellent communication, relationship management and stakeholder management skills.
- RG146 accreditation (or the ability to obtain).
