Based in Gregory Hills, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer in South-West Sydney who wants to avoid the daily CBD commute and work locally with a capable, supportive team.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced IT Projects & Support Engineer to join our team and take ownership of delivering client technology projects from planning through to implementation and handover, whilst being a key escalation point within the business when required.
Approximately 65% of the role will focus on project delivery, including Microsoft 365 migrations, infrastructure upgrades, cloud deployments, networking projects and security improvements.
The remaining 35% will involve escalated technical support and managed services admin, assisting our service team with complex issues that require deeper technical investigation or specialist knowledge. Managing client and internal backup systems and 365 administration.
This is a hands-on engineering position rather than a traditional project management role. You will work directly with clients, internal stakeholders and vendors to deliver practical, well-documented technical outcomes.
The role suits an engineer who enjoys owning projects end-to-end, working across varied environments and balancing technical delivery with clear client communication.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Delivering IT projects from technical planning through to implementation and handover
- Assisting with the overall management of Clients Microsoft 365 Tenancies, Backup and Security systems.
- Deploying, migrating & managing Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Intune and Entra ID environments
- Implementing Windows Server, endpoint, cloud and networking solutions
- Delivering firewall, switching, wireless, VPN and VLAN projects
- Coordinating project schedules, client communications, vendors and technical dependencies
- Reviewing project scopes and identifying risks, gaps or implementation requirements
- Completing onsite installations, migrations, cut overs and infrastructure upgrades
- Producing accurate technical documentation,
implementation plans and handover notes
- Testing completed work and ensuring projects meet agreed technical and operational requirements
- Providing clear progress updates to clients and internal stakeholders
- Assisting the support team with complex escalations when required
- Identifying opportunities to improve the reliability, security and performance of client environments
- Participating in occasional after-hours project work or scheduled cutovers
Technology Exposure You will work across technologies including:
- Microsoft 365, Exchange Online and SharePoint Online
- Microsoft Intune, Autopilot and endpoint management
- Microsoft Entra ID, identity and access management
- Windows 11 and Windows Server
- Azure and cloud infrastructure
- Firewalls, switching, VPNs, VLANs and business Wi-Fi
- Backup, disaster recovery and business continuity platforms
- Endpoint protection, email security and cybersecurity platforms
- RMM, PSA and documentation systems
- Virtualisation and server infrastructure
Experience across every platform is not essential, but you should have strong capability across several of these areas and be comfortable learning new systems.
What We’re Looking For
- At least four years of hands-on IT engineering or support experience within the MSP space
- Experience delivering technical projects in an MSP, systems integrator or multi-client environment
- Demonstrated ability to independently implement,troubleshoot & manage Microsoft 365 environments
- Strong knowledge of Windows endpoints, servers, networking and cloud services
- Experience delivering infrastructure migrations, upgrades or deployment projects
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
- Solid project ownership and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong documentation and change-management discipline
- A customer-focused approach and a high level of personal accountability
- Australian working rights
- A current Australian Driver’s License and reliable transport
What We’d Love to See
- Experience leading projects from scope review through to completion
- Microsoft certifications or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with In tune, Autopilot and Entra ID
- Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant or on-premises-to-cloud migration experience
- Experience implementing firewalls, switches, wireless networks and VPNs
- Exposure to Azure infrastructure and virtualisation
- Experience with cybersecurity frameworks, security tools or compliance projects
- Familiarity with project documentation, statements of work and implementation runbooks
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or supporting service-desk escalations
