We are seeking to appoint two part-time (approximately 0.5 to 0.6FTE) outstanding Japanese Teachers to join a well-established and successful Japanese program. The successful applicants will have the opportunity to contribute to the teaching of Japanese across Years 7-12. The positions are ongoing and will commence from Term 1, 2027
The successful applicant will join a thriving Languages Department and have the opportunity to contribute to the School’s long-established Japanese program. St Hilda’s enjoys a valued sister-school relationship in Japan and offers student exchange opportunities, as well as a biennial Japan Tour. This position presents an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to foster authentic intercultural experiences and inspire students through meaningful engagement with Japanese language and culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrated experience teaching Japanese across Years 7-12, with the ability to deliver engaging, high-quality language programs that promote student achievement and intercultural understanding.
- Demonstrated experience teaching the Japanese Y11-12 ATAR courses and preparing students for ATAR examinations
- High level of proficiency in Japanese language and culture, with the capacity to inspire students through authentic and contemporary cultural learning experiences.
- Sound knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and assessment requirements, with the ability to design, implement and evaluate effective teaching and learning programs.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate learning and provide effective feedback to support a diverse range of learners.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills with students,
parents and colleagues.
- Commitment to student wellbeing and the creation of inclusive, supportive and respectful learning environments.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to contribute to the co-curricular life of the School, including Japanese cultural activities and language enrichment opportunities.
- Demonstrated capacity or willingness to support and lead international experiences, including the School’s long-standing sister-school partnership, student exchange programs and biennial Japan Tour.
- Commitment to continuous qualified growth, innovation in teaching practice and the effective use of educational technologies.
- Commitment to the values and ethos of St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls and an understanding of the benefits of educating girls in a high-achieving learning environment.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education and Human Biology (or closely related field)
- Current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of WA
- Extensive experience teaching ATAR Japanese
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum and resource development
- Right to work in Australia
- Strong communication and classroom management skills, with a commitment to improving student understanding and outcomes in Japanese
