Our client is seeking an experienced Java Developer who supports the Team Leader in the day-to-day development, maintenance, enhancement, and support of applications in the client’s ICT environment, including participating in section planning for short term tasks and contributing to strategic planning for longer term initiatives.

Key duties and responsibilities

Role will be responsible for, but not limited to:

- Appling expertise to enhance and improve existing software, including designing, developing, implementing, and testing software systems, in line with business requirements and software development standards.
- Collaboration with other teams, investigate and resolve issues with the operation of an application.
- Addressing errors by making appropriate changes and rechecking the program to ensure that the desired results are produced.
- Performing revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
- Providing a high standard of technical and design documentation.
- Assisting in the development of specialist and/or technical expertise to less experienced and more junior developers.
- Contributing to project progress reporting and comply with governance processes.
- Developing and supporting key internal and external relationships, including managing stakeholders to achieve work area and agency goals.
- Making and communicating decisions using positive judgement, expertise, and knowledge, governed by legislation, regulations, best practice principles or relevant operating instructions and procedures.
- Contributing to doctrine, election preparation, and delivery activities in accordance with the election readiness framework, according to individual accountabilities and responsibilities.
- Performing additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed from time to time.
- The volume of duties may increase significantly during peak operational periods,



including electoral events and other time-critical activities. There may be a requirement to work outside of standard business hours to meet operational priorities and delivery requirements.

Essential criteria

- 1.• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain high quality, robust and scalable enterprise level software solutions using Java and Java EE.
- • Knowledge and experience in successfully setting priorities and delivering quality results on time and on budget
- • Proven ability to communicate effectively whilst anticipating stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed network.
- • Proven analytical abilities with the ability to propose and facilitate change and contribute to business improvement strategies.
- • Ability to manage staff while developing capabilities, encouraging career development and promoting professionalism.
- • Demonstrated personal integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.

Desirable criteria

- 1.• Relevant qualifications in information technology.
- • Expertise in software version upgrades
- • Experience with SAS Programming and/or PostScript, including troubleshooting document rendering, managing print streams, and supporting enterprise output systems.
- • Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice
- • Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of the Commonwealth frameworks, including ICT frameworks

2 -Principal Java/Bespoke Software Engineer (Developer) Security Clearance -Baseline

- Initial contract duration-12 Months
- Extension -24 months
- Location -Canberra

Job details This role will focus on supporting, maintaining and developing solutions for cloud and back-end Java/AWS/Oracle components. back-end comprises of multiple Java components and Java EE JMS components used for data integration and message processing.



It also consists of AWS cloud components used to provide external integrations with client’s external clients/partners.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Develop enterprise-grade software using Java and Oracle technologies
- Develop / maintain web-based UI using ReactJS, CSS and HTML
- Design data models, translate to physical data models and implement using Oracle Database
- Implement CRUD operations on the database using Java Object-Relational Mapping frameworks
- Produce and maintain detailed design artefacts & technical specifications
- Create and work with RESTful OpenAPI specifications, SOAP WSDLs, XML Schemas
- Develop and maintain DevOps workflows using Jenkins, Git and Maven & Ant
- Perform and build Nexus software releases following established processes
- Providing advice and support for Applications Director & CIO
- Provision of on-call services as part of a team roster (calls are rare one per year)

Key duties and responsibilities

Essential Skills Required

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- At least 8 years Java experience, enterprise design patterns, JPA, Hibernate ORM, JEE an advantage, reactive programming an advantage.
- Java Web service development, SOAP and REST APIs, OpenAPI/XSD Schemas, XML/JSON, Spring/SpringBoot. • Unix/Linux, Bash.
- Maven lifecycle management, Continuous Integration, Unit and System Integration testing.
- Major database experience, including data modelling, stored procedures. Oracle preferred.
- Willingness to be 24x7 on-call. Historically calls escalated to the dev team between 10pm and 6am are rare one per year. • AWS development (EC2, Lambdas, API Gateway, S3/SQS, Cloud Formation).

Essential criteria

- 1.Programming/software development: Level 6 (SFIA)
- Develops organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for software construction and refactoring. Plans and leads software construction activities for strategic, large and complex development projects. Adapts or develops new methods and organisational capabilities and drives adoption of, and adherence to policies and standards.
