We are seeking a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer - Machine Learning to join School of Electrical Engineering and Robotics, Faculty of Engineering.
We are seeking an academic to join QUT in delivering Australia’s first Machine Learning Systems Major in an accredited Undergraduate Engineering Degree - a landmark program that positions QUT at the forefront of Machine Learning education in engineering. The successful appointee will contribute to and build upon the School’s national leading research expertise in robotics and autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, and will have expertise in at least one of the following areas: machine learning systems and deployment; deep learning for computer vision or signal processing; or applied AI for high-impact engineering domains including electrical, manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, aerospace, defence or robotics. innovation in teaching practices, including the design of new courses and micro-credentials. The appointee will contribute to and collaborate with the School’s research groups and research centres across the Faculty and University.
They will be supported to develop the capability to provide national and international leadership, and to build strong linkages across disciplines, industry, government, and regulatory bodies to deliver real-world impact. The appointee will undertake high-quality research and publish outcomes in leading venues while developing competitive grant applications. They will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, curriculum development, and innovative learning initiatives, including recent courses and micro-credentials.
The role also involves collaboration across research groups and centres, building interdisciplinary partnerships with industry, government, and regulatory bodies, and developing the capacity for national and international research leadership and impact. What You Need To Succeed
Completion of a doctoral qualification in Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision or a closely related field. Demonstrated achievement in research, relative to career stage, including a track record of publications in high-quality journals and conferences, success in securing research funding, and engagement with industry. Demonstrated ability in teaching and learning, including innovative and scholarly approaches, and experience in supervising higher degree research students.
Experience in developing research proposals to external funding bodies, administering funded research projects, and ability to engage and collaborate with a range of stakeholders, including industry partners, government and/or scientific organisations. Proven ability to contribute to a collaborative,
high-performance academic environment. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
