Your opportunity Join the Port Authority team as a Legal Counsel. Working closely with peers and stakeholders, this role is responsible providing legal services across the Port Authority of New South Wales portfolio.

The role is a 12-month maximum term contract opportunity based in Sydney reporting to the Deputy General Counsel.

Here’s How Your Impact Will Truly Count

- Provide high quality, timely and cost-effective legal services to achieve required outcomes.
- Identify and minimise legal risks in contracts, operational activities and claims and provide quality independent legal advice and explanation of legal issues.
- Negotiate, draft and review a broad range of commercial contracts, commercial property leases and licences, and appropriate procurement contracts (CAPEX,



OPEX and general corporate).
- Interpret legislation and instruments and provide considered advice and guidance, including on marine operations.
- Identify and implement legal compliance policies and training for the organisation, to promote awareness of the organisation’s legal rights and obligations and foster a culture of compliance.
- Manage and resolve major disputes with minimum impact to business, either through mediation or litigation.

Desired Skills And Experience What you’ll bring

- Tertiary qualifications in law or a related field
- Current legal practising certificate for NSW
- Experience practicing in property law, marine, government or general commercial law
- Proven experience providing legal advice in complex or contentious contractual matters
- Willingness to travel between locations within the portfolio
