Connecting people, culture, and knowledge
Blacktown City Libraries loans more than 1 million items each year. As a Librarian in the Resources Access team, you help keep those collections current, organised and ready for community use.
You work with a small team of library professionals who focus on collections and customer service. You provide service at library service points, monitor collection use and trends, prepare reports and statistics, follow up serials deliveries, liaise with suppliers, process incoming resources and help maintain accurate catalogue records. You also receive and unpack daily deliveries, move resources on trolleys and prepare items for community use.
Deliveries can range from a few boxes to larger deliveries requiring repeated lifting and manual handling. This work is shared across the team and requires the ability to safely undertake routine physical tasks throughout the day.
Your work helps move resources from delivery to library shelves and online access as efficiently as possible. By monitoring collections, supporting cataloguing and maintaining workflows, you help ensure library resources are available, appealing and accessible when community members need them.
This role offers the opportunity to build your expertise in collections management while working with colleagues who value learning, knowledge sharing and service. Your contribution supports lifelong learning,
helps people discover recent ideas and experiences, and strengthens connection across our diverse community.
This position suits an enthusiastic team player with strong attention to detail, a good head for statistics and a commitment to excellent customer service.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
- a term contract, part-time role for up to 12 months with one of Australia's largest councils
- an entry level salary commencing at $1,690.22 per week, pro-rata
- a 21-hour working week
- 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
- ongoing training and development support
- access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
