Connecting people, culture, and knowledge
Blacktown City Libraries loan more than 1 million items each year. As a Library Technician in the Resources Access team, you help keep those collections current, accessible and ready for community use. You work across library service points, support collection activities, and ensure resources move efficiently from delivery to shelf.
You work with a small team of library professionals who are passionate about collections. Day to day, you provide customer service, check in and process serials, prepare resources for circulation, repair damaged items and unpack incoming deliveries. You also assist with shelving, shelf maintenance, collection processing and creative displays that encourage people to discover new resources.
A significant part of the role involves handling library stock and deliveries. You regularly collect incoming deliveries, load and unload trolleys, move materials between work areas, and process items ready for the collection. This is a hands-on role that involves regular lifting, moving stock throughout the library, and safely manoeuvring loaded trolleys in busy and confined spaces.
Your work helps ensure library collections are well maintained, appealing and available when the community needs them. Every item you process, repair or prepare supports learning, connection and access to knowledge across Blacktown City.
This role suits an enthusiastic team player with strong customer service and communication skills, a good eye for detail and relevant library experience.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make outstanding teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
- a secure, term contract, full-time role for up to 12 months with one of Australia's largest councils
- an entry level salary commencing at $1,420.05 per week
- a 35-hour working week
- access to Council's flextime arrangement
- 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements
- ongoing training and development support
- access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.
