- Designing and executing strategic case plans to progress matters efficiently toward negotiation, mediation, or trial
- Preparing matters for trial and mediation, including briefing counsel, settling witness statements, and overseeing trial bundles and evidence
- Quantifying and negotiating complex, high-value claims, and leading settlement negotiations on behalf of the firm
- Liaising with medical experts, counsel, statutory bodies, and other stakeholders on complex and catastrophic matters
- Mentoring, training, and supervising lawyers and paralegals within the practice group, and overseeing file quality and compliance standards
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce delays and administrative "looping" across the practice group
- Partnering with the Managing Principal and senior leadership on practice group strategy, growth, and resourcing
About You You are a senior litigator with deep technical expertise, sound strategic judgement, and a genuine passion for resolving complex and high-value personal injury claims. You bring the leadership skills and credibility to guide, mentor, and grow a high-performing practice group.
You will bring:
- 10+ years' experience as a Litigation Lawyer, with substantial experience across medical negligence, workers' compensation, public liability, motor vehicle, and/or TPD claims in Queensland
- Current Queensland Practicing Certificate (or eligibility to hold one)
- A demonstrated track record of resolving complex, high-value, or previously "unwinnable" claims through forensic medical evidence analysis and strategic case planning
- Strong trial and mediation preparation experience, including briefing counsel and managing matters through to hearing
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, including with medical experts, counsel, and statutory bodies
- The ability to work autonomously while providing explicit strategic direction and support to others
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in file management, evidence handling, and reporting
- Admission to the Supreme Court of Queensland (essential)
What We Offer
- A genuine leadership role with autonomy and strategic influence
- The opportunity to work on complex, high-value, and catastrophic injury matters
- Supportive and approachable executive leadership
- Ongoing internal and external professional development
- A positive, values-driven firm culture
- Competitive remuneration, commensurate with experience
