NJM Design is a multi-disciplinary building services engineering consultancy based in the Melbourne CBD, servicing clients around Australia. We've been around for 21 years and complete over 500 projects every year.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable person to be part of the Electrical Engineering team. This is an exciting role which will be essential to continuous growth and the smooth operation of the company.
Position Summary
Your primary roles will be to assist in the delivery of NJM’s multidisciplinary engineering design services through your design and experience skills to:
Scope, design and co-ordinate the elements for projects on which you are the designated engineer and prepare reports as necessary.
Review the work produced by the Engineers employed by NJM Design.
Manage building services Projects.
Qualifications & experience
At least 5 years working in a similar role locally in the building services industry for an engineering firm.
Advanced AutoCAD and Revit User
Duties and Responsibilities
Your specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Scoping, designing, and coordinating the engineering elements of projects for which NJM has been commissioned.
Assistance and guidance to all engineering staff as appropriate for all design issues.
Overseeing the engineering staff and checking engineering designs.
Project managing projects as allocated to you by management. This shall include briefing design staff, representing NJM at design meetings, undertaking inspections of building works and ensuring that all designs are coordinated.
Site inspections for compliance checks and for evaluation of existing conditions and report writing.
Negotiate discussions with utility companies for the best possible outcome.
Assist in maintaining and further developing NJM’s quality assurance procedures and practices.
Key Performance Indicators
The key performance indicators for your position will be as follows and will be utilised to ascertain your performance appraisal:
Complete reports on time as requested by your supervisor.
Maintaining cordial relationships with architects, clients, project managers, building surveyors/certifiers, external personnel, builders and contractors
Assisting other design staff in the office.
Establishing design briefs for projects that your are working on.
Developing your knowledge and understanding of Australian Standards and building regulations, local industry practices and authority requirements and procedures.
Carrying out engineering design functions including calculations, reports and software analysis.
Developing an understanding of all other building services and coordination thereof
