About us
MMC Australia is seeking a practical, hands-on Maintenance Mechanic to keep our internal plant, vehicles, trailers, tools and workshop equipment safe, reliable and ready for use. You will complete servicing, inspections, preventative maintenance, basic fault finding and repairs within your competency.
You will also support workshop-based client mechanical work involving pumps, valves, rotating equipment and mechanical assemblies. Occasional site or shutdown work may be available where suitable.
You do not need experience with every item listed. We value safe work, practical ability, good judgement and a willingness to learn.
What you’ll do:
- Service and inspect plant, vehicles, trailers, forklifts, tools and workshop assets; identify defects, wear, leaks and unsafe conditions.
- Complete basic fault finding and repairs within your training and authorization, and arrange external repair, certification, calibration or replacement when required.
- Assist with client mechanical work, including strip-downs, measurements, inspections, reassembly and testing of pumps, valves, rotating or fixed-plant equipment and mechanical components.
- Monitor servicing and inspection dates and provide clear records of equipment status, defects, parts required and outstanding actions.
- Report, isolate or remove unsafe and non-compliant equipment from service and support reliability and safety improvements.
What you’ll bring:
- A mechanical trade qualification or extensive relevant mechanical maintenance experience.
- Hands-on experience maintaining workshop, plant, vehicle or equipment assets, including inspection, servicing and basic fault finding.
- Ability to follow drawings, job instructions, procedures and repair scopes and work effectively within a fitting and mechanical team.
- Transparent communication, basic record keeping and confidence using a computer or mobile device for updates, photos and service information.
- A current driver’s license and a forklift license, or willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening, plus willingness to support occasional site or shutdown work where suitable.
Highly regarded:
- Industrial mechanical fitting or experience with pumps, valves, rotating equipment or fixed plant.
- Equipment strip-downs, machining, measurements, repair records, reassembly, testing, or reading mechanical drawings and manuals.
- Relevant high-risk licenses, shutdown/FIFO experience, or use of maintenance systems, work orders and asset registers.
Why join MMC?
- Darwin-based workshop role with variety across internal assets and client mechanical work.
- Supportive practical team, on-the-job learning, broader industrial maintenance exposure and potential limited site or shutdown opportunities.
