Management Accountant

Position Overview

We are looking for a commercially astute and analytically driven Management Accountant to join our finance team and play a pivotal role in supporting the organisation's financial performance and strategic direction. The ideal candidate will bring a robust foundation in financial reporting, cost management, and budgetary oversight, combined with the ability to translate complex financial data into meaningful business insights. This role suits a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to driving continuous improvement across financial processes and governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in the formulation and ongoing review of budgetary policies and accounting frameworks to support sound financial governance across the organisation.

- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports for presentation to boards of directors, senior leadership, shareholders, and relevant statutory bodies.

- Conduct financial investigations and prepare detailed reports on matters including suspected fraud, insolvency, business acquisitions and disposals, mergers, capital financing arrangements, and taxation obligations.

- Examine operating costs alongside organisational income and expenditure to identify variances, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost optimisation.

- Provide assurance over the accuracy and integrity of financial reports, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements and relevant accounting standards.

- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling processes to support short- and long-term business planning.

- Monitor and analyse key financial performance indicators, delivering actionable insights and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making.

- Oversee asset valuation processes and maintain accurate records in accordance with organisational and regulatory requirements.





- Support the development and implementation of pricing strategies by providing robust cost analysis and financial modelling.

- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance.

- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of financial reporting and management accounting functions.

- Contribute to the strategic governance of the organisation by providing financial expertise and insight across cross-functional projects and business initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.

- CPA or CA qualification (or currently working towards completion).

- Demonstrated experience in a management accounting, financial reporting, or similar finance role.

- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, tax legislation, and statutory compliance requirements.

- Proven ability to prepare and present financial statements, management reports, and board-level documentation.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP or financial management systems such as SAP, Oracle, MYOB, or Xero.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.





- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Sound commercial acumen and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing financial risks and opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

- Postgraduate qualification such as a Master of Finance, MBA, or equivalent.

- Membership with CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ (CA ANZ), or CIMA.

- Experience in financial modelling, scenario analysis, or feasibility studies.

- Prior exposure to audit processes, due diligence engagements, or business valuation work.

- Industry-specific experience relevant to the organisation's sector, such as manufacturing, professional services, healthcare, or government.

- Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
