Your recent role An exciting leadership opportunity exists with a Victorian State Government agency within the transport sector. This role is responsible for leading the Freedom of Information (FOI) and Information Release function, providing expert legal and strategic advice while driving best-practice governance, transparency and compliance outcomes across the organisation.

Leading a team of 10-11 professionals, you will oversee the end-to-end management of information release requests, including complex and sensitive matters, while ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and delivering high-quality stakeholder outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the FOI and Information Release function.
- Provide strategic advice on FOI legislation, risk and governance.
- Manage complex and high-profile information requests.
- Support external reviews and tribunal matters.
- Build strong relationships across government and key stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement, reporting and process efficiencies.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team.

You will bring:

- Extensive experience leading FOI or information release functions.
- Tertiary qualifications in Law or a related discipline.




- Eligibility to hold a Legal Practising Certificate.
- Experience managing sensitive and high-profile matters.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- A track record of driving service improvements and governance outcomes.
- Experience developing capable, engaged and high-performing teams.
