Full Time Electrical Engineer
$90,000 to $120,000 per annum + superannuation
Summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, evaluating and implementing electrical engineering solutions that support Smart Hill Construction’s manufacturing operations, engineering projects and continued business expansion. The position plays a key role in ensuring the company’s electrical systems, manufacturing equipment and engineering infrastructure operate safely, efficiently and in accordance with Australian Standards.
Duties and Responsibility
Electrical Engineering Design
- Design, develop and evaluate electrical systems, equipment and engineering solutions to support manufacturing operations, production facilities and commercial projects.
- Prepare electrical engineering drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation in accordance with Australian Standards and project requirements.
- Assess and recommend engineering improvements to optimise the efficiency, reliability and performance of electrical systems and equipment.
Manufacturing and Operational Support
- Provide electrical engineering expertise to support manufacturing machinery, production systems and electrical infrastructure, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
- Participate in the installation, testing and commissioning of recent machinery and production equipment associated with business growth and expansion.
- Investigate engineering issues affecting manufacturing operations and develop practical solutions that improve productivity and minimise operational downtime.
Project and Contract Engineering
- Provide electrical engineering support during the planning, design and delivery of commercial scaffold projects and specialised engineering contracts.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to integrate electrical engineering requirements into project outcomes.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering assessments and project documentation to support project delivery and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Compliance and Quality
- Ensure electrical engineering activities comply with Australian Standards, relevant legislation, workplace health and safety requirements and company quality procedures.
- Conduct engineering analysis, inspections and performance evaluations to verify the safety, functionality and compliance of electrical systems.
- Maintain accurate engineering records, technical documentation and compliance reports to support quality assurance and regulatory obligations.
Business Improvement and Innovation
- Support the company’s expansion by assessing electrical infrastructure requirements for new manufacturing facilities,
production equipment and engineering projects.
- Identify and implement engineering improvements, automation opportunities and emerging technologies that enhance operational efficiency and manufacturing capability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating engineering processes and recommending innovative technical solutions.
Technical Collaboration
- Provide professional electrical engineering advice to management and internal teams on electrical systems, manufacturing processes and engineering projects.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, consultants and clients regarding technical specifications, engineering solutions and project requirements.
- Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to ensure engineering objectives, project outcomes and operational requirements are successfully achieved.
Skill & Experience
Assessment Criteria
- A Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience with demonstrated knowledge of electrical engineering principles, Australian Standards and relevant legislation.
- Ability to design, analyse and evaluate electrical engineering systems and equipment.
- Experience preparing engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and engineering judgement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and priorities.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality and continuous improvement.
