Tanami is one of Australia's most remote and significant underground gold mines, located deep in the Tanami Desert of the Northern Territory. As a fully fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) operation, Tanami flies around 1,800 employees and contractors to site via its own airstrip, with teams working on a rotational camp roster. The mine was originally an open-pit operation but has evolved into a world-class underground asset with extensive modern infrastructure.
A major expansion (Tanami Expansion 2) is underway - including a 1.5-kilometre-deep hoisting shaft - to extend Tanami's life beyond 2040 and increase production efficiency. The remote location fosters a close-knit team spirit,
