About the Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be at the forefront of delivering innovative human resources strategies, aligning them with our community's vision. You will guide us in sustaining a workplace culture that reflects our core values, while implementing forward thinking initiatives that strengthen workforce capability, enhance performance and support organisational success.
You will work closely with Council's Executive Leadership Team, offering strategic advice on a range of matters. Your expertise will play a key role in strengthening employee engagement, succession planning, and employee relations, ultimately contributing to a more effective and higher performing workforce.
Other key responsibilities include
- Provide accurate and timely information and advice to the General Manager.
- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource legislative requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records and representing Council, as required.
- Formulate, implement, control, monitor and report on performance against Councils adopted budget.
- Lead the implementation of Human Resources policies, procedures and strategies.
- Ensure the organisation’s recruitment practices are effective,
efficient and compliant with legislation.

About You
We are looking for an experienced, values-driven Human Resources professional who is passionate about empowering people to be the best they can. In this role, you will be a trusted advisor and influential partner across the organisation, bringing a sharp eye for detail and a genuine commitment to building an engaged, supported and thriving workforce.
You will also possess
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or relevant field and/or demonstrated relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of industrial relations relevant to NSW Local Government.
- Experience in managing a broad range of HR functions including, performance management, workforce planning, employee relations and change management.
- Demonstrated ability to influence organisational culture, behaviour, and accountability, reflective of Councils organisational values.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the proven ability to build effective relationships.
