Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this is a rare opportunity to play a key leadership role in shaping the business's future growth while working across a diverse portfolio of projects across Western Australia.
About the Role This is a pivotal time to join Macro. We are seeking an experienced Manager –Project Development & Approvals to play a key role in supporting the nextphase of growth, operating as a trusted member of the senior leadership team. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, theywill take ownership of the Company’s project development activities acrossWestern Australia.
The position will lead the delivery of environmental, mining,and government approvals, while managing project schedules, consultants,stakeholders, tenure, and development programs. The position will identify issues early, solve problems practically, and maintain momentum across multiple concurrent projects.
Key Responsibilities This role includes, but is not limited to:
- Hold end-to-end accountability for the project across all phases,including mobilisation, planning, execution, commissioning, handover,demobilisation and close-out;
- Own and maintain the Project Execution Plan (PEP), ensuringworks are delivered to the approved scope, specifications, drawings and BHPrehabilitation criteria and standards; Developandmaintainproject budgets, schedules andvariationsboth internally andforproject partnerships; - Lead operational readiness and mobilisation, including resourcing,plant, permits, inductions and verified readiness to perform before workscommence;
- Lead project close-out, including final claims, demobilisation,asset reconciliation, lessons learned and contractual completion;
- Prepare, review and manage environmental, traditional owner andmining approvals;
- Coordinate environmental, heritage, flora, fauna, hydrogeology andtechnical studies;
- Contribute to the development of tenure strategies supportingfuture project growth;
- Develop productive relationships with - Traditional Owners, NativeTitle representative bodies, Government agencies,
Pastoralists and landholders,& Local communities; and
- Manage consultants, contractors and specialist advisers, and prepareBoard papers and Executive reports. The ideal candidate holds a Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science,Geology, Project Management, Natural Resource Management, or a related fielddiscipline. With a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience within the Australianmining, exploration and resources industry. They will also be able to demonstrateexperience delivering mining or exploration projects throughout the Pilbara,Goldfields and Kimberley regions. Ideally, they will also have a strong workingknowledge of the Mining Act 1978 (WA), Environmental Protection Act 1986 (WA),Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 (WA), Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) and associatedregulatory frameworks, coupled with extensive experience in the development andmanagement of:
- Government approvals;
- Mining tenure;
- Stakeholder engagement; and
