The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) provides operational and clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of high‑quality, safe, and person‑centred health services at Parkville Youth Justice Precinct, a 24/7 nurse‑led model within a youth custodial facility.

Responsibilities

- Lead an experienced clinical nursing team to deliver person‑centred healthcare and health promotion.
- Facilitate communities of practice, promote reflective practice, and implement workplace coaching interventions.
- Ensure ongoing clinical competence by coordinating individual and team professional development activities.
- Serve as the direct report to all nursing staff for leave and rostering, recruiting, induction, and orientation.
- Assess data and trends relating to health presentations and demographic groups to monitor client outcomes and guide relevant quality‑improvement strategies.
- Oversee daily operations, manage resources, and ensure effective coordination of care within the unit.

Qualifications

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse.
- Knowledge of the Youth Justice System and understanding of restrictions, limitations, and considerations for healthcare delivery within this system.
- Demonstrated high‑level communication and interpersonal skills.

- Evidence of immunisation (including Influenza within 12 weeks of commencement) as required by Victorian health orders.
- Successful applicants will be required to provide a satisfactory Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), a Working With Children Check (WWCC), a completed Pre‑Employment Declaration Form, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination.
