Multiple Subject Tutors — Casual

Taggart Tutors is seeking high-quality casual tutors to join our team at our Grange tutoring centre.
We are recruiting across several subject areas and are looking for academically strong, reliable and professional applicants who can work confidently with students across different ages, abilities and learning needs.
Our current priority areas are:
- English and Literature to Year 12 ATAR level
- Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics Year 12 ATAR level
- Physics, Chemistry and Biology to Year 12 ATAR level
- General English, Mathematics and Science up to Year 10
Applicants may apply to tutor one or several subject areas. Those who can confidently support students across multiple subjects and year levels will be highly regarded. For senior secondary roles, applicants must be recent Queensland QCAA graduates with a high ATAR and a comprehensive understanding of the Queensland ATAR system, including subject requirements, internal assessments, external examinations and effective study and assessment preparation.
About the Roles
Tutors will deliver individualised 1:1 tuition and, where required, small-group tutoring in a professional learning environment. The role involves helping students strengthen their subject knowledge, build confidence, improve academic performance and develop effective study habits.
Successful applicants will be able to explain concepts clearly, adapt their teaching approach to suit each student and maintain high expectations while building positive rapport.
Tutoring Areas
English and Literature
We are seeking tutors who can confidently support students in English and Literature, particularly at senior secondary and ATAR level. Applicants should have strong written communication, analytical writing and text-analysis skills, along with a sound understanding of QCAA assessment expectations.
Mathematics
We are seeking tutors who can confidently support senior Mathematics, particularly Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics. Applicants who can also tutor Essential Mathematics, General Mathematics or junior Mathematics will be viewed favourably.
Science
We are seeking tutors across Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Applicants should be confident supporting senior secondary students with subject knowledge, problem-solving, assessment preparation and external examination revision.
Applicants who can tutor more than one senior Science subject will be highly regarded.
General Subjects to Year 10
We are also seeking capable tutors who can support students in general English, Mathematics and Science from upper primary through to Year 10. These roles are suited to applicants who can confidently work across several subject areas and adapt to different student needs.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on the role, tutors may be responsible for:
- Delivering individualised 1:1 tutoring sessions
- Delivering structured small-group sessions where required
- Supporting students from upper primary through to Year 12
- Helping students strengthen subject knowledge, confidence and independence
- Preparing students for assignments, internal assessments and external examinations
- Tailoring sessions to each student’s learning needs, goals and current school requirements
- Explaining concepts clearly and accessibly
- Providing constructive feedback to students
- Maintaining accurate student progress notes
- Communicating professionally with parents and Taggart Tutors staff
- Upholding strong academic and behavioural expectations
About You
We are looking for tutors who are academically capable, dependable and genuinely committed to helping students improve. The ideal applicant will have:
- Strong academic results in the subjects they wish to tutor
- Recent experience completing the Queensland QCAA senior curriculum
- A high ATAR result
- A comprehensive understanding of the Queensland ATAR system
- The ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sound analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Confidence working with children and young people
- The ability to take initiative and work independently
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- A qualified, calm and encouraging manner
- A genuine commitment to student growth and development
Preferred Academic Background
Highly regarded applicants will have:
- Robust results in English, Literature, Mathematics or senior Science subjects
- Recent completion of the Queensland QCAA curriculum
- A strong understanding of internal assessments and external examinations
- Confidence tutoring senior secondary students
- Current or completed tertiary study in Education, Mathematics, Science, Engineering, English, Literature, Medicine, Health or a related field
- Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, coaching or youth work experience
- The ability to tutor across more than one subject area

Availability
Applicants must have consistent availability during school terms. We are particularly seeking tutors who can commit to:
- Weekday afternoons from 3:00 pm
- Regular weekly tutoring shifts
- Saturday sessions where required
Saturday availability is highly desirable and may provide access to additional hours. Applicants with availability across several weekday afternoons will be viewed favourably. Consistent term-time availability is important, as students are generally booked into ongoing weekly sessions.
Additional hours may also be available during school holiday programs, examination preparation periods and other peak tutoring times.

- Saturday availability highly desirable
- Additional school holiday hours may be available
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience, academic performance, subject capability and suitability
Requirements
Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain:
- A current Queensland Blue Card or Working with Children Check
- Australian work authorisation
- Reliable transport to Grange, QLD 4051
A driver licence is preferred but not essential.
