Position: Fire Safety Engineering Intern (Brisbane, Australia)

Job Summary

Join our Buildings & Places team in Brisbane for a 12‑week paid internship (mid‑November to mid‑February). This role offers real‑project experience in fire safety engineering across iconic Australian and New Zealand projects.

How You’ll Make a Difference

- Support the team in delivering fire engineering projects from early concept through to completion, helping to develop practical, performance‑based fire safety strategies aligned with relevant codes and standards.
- Assist with fire risk assessments, evacuation analysis, and smoke control modelling, and help produce clear technical reports and documentation to support design decisions and approvals.
- Stay up to date with fire engineering regulations, industry trends, and new technologies, applying this knowledge under supervision to projects and continually improving the quality of deliverables.

Internship Details

- 12‑week paid internship (mid‑November to mid‑February)
- Real project experience: contribute to meaningful work and apply university learning to real‑world projects from day one.
- Exposure to iconic projects: be part of projects shaping communities, cities,



and infrastructure across Australia and New Zealand.
- Pathway to graduate employment: successful interns may be considered for future graduate opportunities, providing a direct pathway into AECOM’s Graduate Program.

Qualifications

- Summer Intern attributes: curiosity and excitement to apply studies in a professional environment; strong communication, teamwork, positive proactive attitude, adaptability, and a commitment to professionalism and integrity.
- Bachelor’s Degree: bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in any engineering discipline, in the penultimate year, with an interest in or understanding of fire safety engineering.
- Commencement: able to work full‑time hours from mid‑November 2026 to mid‑February 2027.
- Working Rights: full working rights in Australia or Recent Zealand required; student and graduate visas accepted.
