The Mechanic (Heavy) plays a crucial role in the Plant & Fleet Unit, responsible for the repair, servicing, compliance, and maintenance of our fleet. This position ensures that all vehicles and equipment are safe, effective, and compliant with relevant regulations, providing high-quality service to our community.

Your responsibilities will include applying appropriate maintenance and repair procedures, conducting registration checks, supervising apprentices, and contributing to the overall operational efficiency of the workshop.

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A Certificate III qualification in Heavy Commercial Mechanical technology or related field, combined with ongoing professional development
- A current NSW Fair Trading Tradesperson Certificate
- A valid Construction General Induction Card - NSW SafeWork or equivalent
- Recent experience in the repair of late model Fleet vehicles and equipment including multiple trade disciplines in hydraulics, auto electrics & pneumatics
- Knowledge of and recent experience in the use of vehicle asset management systems (IPS, TechOne or similar), email and other internet applications
- Knowledge of parts and material acquisitions and administration systems for their procurement




- Knowledge and understanding of industry standards, legislative requirements, principles and trends.
- The successful applicant will be required to provide evidence of, or obtain, the vaccinations/immunisations required for this position as part of the pre-employment medical assessment

You will also be willing to obtain:
- HAVIS Vehicle Examiners Certificate - Heavy Vehicle
- A current Class MR Drivers Licence

Offer Details The commencing salary for this position is up to $79.2K. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $85.2 on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation plus Level 1 Adverse Working Conditions.

- This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight
- This role is located at the Erina Depot
