Mechanical Design Engineer | Kewdale | Salary negotiable depending on ExperienceDesign Heavy Transport Equipment Our client is one of Western Australia's leading manufacturers of custom transport equipment, designing and building trailers, tankers and truck bodies for the mining, transport, agricultural and freight industries.They are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who can take ownership of product design, modify existing designs, develop new concepts and work closely with the workshop to deliver practical engineering solutions.

Please note: This role is only suitable for candidates with Australian mechanical design engineering experience. Visa sponsorship is not available.

This is a hands-on engineering position where you'll work directly with manufacturing and production teams to design, improve and develop transport equipment built for Australian conditions.

Your responsibilities will include

- Designing and modifying trailers, truck bodies, tankers and heavy transport equipment

- Producing detailed manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD

- Developing current products and improving existing designs

- Creating 3D models and engineering documentation

- Working closely with the Workshop Manager and production team to ensure designs are practical and buildable

- Identifying manufacturing improvements and engineering solutions

- Supporting prototype development from concept through to production

What we're looking for to be successful, you must have:

- Mechanical Engineering degree

- Minimum 3 years' Australian Mechanical Engineering experience

- Strong experience using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD





- Proven experience designing or modifying mechanical products for manufacture

- Experience producing detailed engineering drawings that are used in production

- Strong understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes

Highly Regarded: Candidates with experience designing any of the following will be highly regarded:

- Heavy transport trailers

- Truck bodies

- Semi-trailers

- Tankers

- Heavy fabricated equipment

- Transport equipment

We'll also consider candidates from heavy manufacturing, mining, marine or industrial engineering backgrounds provided you have genuine mechanical design experience, not simply drafting experience.

- Graduate Engineers
