Placed.au is looking for a full-time Mechanical Engineering Specialist for our client in Bankstown, New South Wales. This role is responsible for providing specialist mechanical engineering expertise in the design, development, installation, testing, and continuous improvement of waste compaction equipment and mechanical systems. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions, optimise product performance, and ensure compliance with Australian engineering standards and workplace safety requirements.
• Design, develop, and evaluate mechanical systems and components for waste compaction equipment and associated machinery.
- Analyse engineering specifications, technical drawings, and project requirements to develop effective mechanical solutions.
- Conduct engineering calculations, testing, and performance analysis to ensure equipment reliability, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
- Provide specialist technical advice on mechanical engineering issues, product design improvements, and manufacturing processes.
- Prepare engineering documentation, technical reports, specifications, and operating procedures.
- Investigate equipment failures and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability and operational performance.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems.
- Collaborate with production, fabrication, service, and project teams to ensure engineering objectives are achieved.
- Monitor project progress to ensure engineering deliverables are completed within budget and project timeframes.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant Australian Standards, workplace health and safety legislation, and company policies.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in product design, manufacturing processes, and operational efficiency.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and clients to provide technical support throughout project delivery.
Qualifications / Attributes • Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated experience providing specialist mechanical engineering services within manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments is highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, engineering calculations, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency using engineering design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent project coordination and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare technical reports and liaise with a range of stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of Australian Standards, engineering compliance requirements, and workplace health and safety legislation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining high engineering and quality standards.
Salary Range Salary to be negotiated based on skills and experience.
