As we expand our Australian operations, we are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Mechanical Technician to support equipment deployment, machine operation, servicing, and customer success across Australia.

Position Summary The Field Mechanical Technician plays a critical role in ensuring Beagle's autonomous harvesting systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably in the field.

This role combines mechanical maintenance, equipment operation, customer support, and field deployment. The successful candidate will spend significant time working outdoors on farms, operating tractors and autonomous harvesters, performing mechanical repairs, supporting customer deployments, and collaborating with engineering teams in Australia, the United States, and China.

The successful candidate will initially travel to California, USA, for comprehensive product training and hands-on experience with our engineering team before supporting commercial deployments throughout Australia.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations

- Operate Beagle autonomous harvesting systems during demonstrations, field trials, and commercial harvesting operations.

- Safely operate agricultural tractors and supporting field equipment.

- Prepare harvesting equipment for daily field operations, including inspections, calibration, and setup.

- Perform pre-operation and post-operation equipment inspections.

- Support machine commissioning and deployment at customer farms.

- Assist growers with machine operation during harvesting activities.

Mechanical Service & Maintenance

- Perform routine maintenance, servicing, inspections, and repairs on Beagle harvesters and supporting equipment.

- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues.

- Replace worn or damaged components and complete repairs in both workshop and field environments.

- Maintain service records, maintenance logs, and repair documentation.

- Ensure machines remain safe, reliable, and field-ready at all times.

Assembly & Engineering Support

- Assemble new machines and install upgraded components.

- Assist engineers with prototype assembly, testing, validation,



and machine improvements.

- Provide detailed field feedback to engineering teams to improve machine performance and reliability.

- Support product testing and engineering validation activities in Australia and the United States.

Customer Support

- Deliver machine demonstrations and product presentations to growers.

- Train customers on machine operation, daily maintenance, and safe operating procedures.

- Troubleshoot customer issues both remotely and on-site.

- Represent Beagle Technology professionally during customer visits, field days, trade shows, and demonstrations.

- Build strong relationships with growers by providing responsive technical support and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

- Certificate III/IV, Diploma, Trade Qualification, or equivalent hands-on experience in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Equipment, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.

- Minimum 2 years of experience maintaining or servicing agricultural machinery, tractors, construction equipment, industrial equipment, or other mobile machinery.

- Proven experience operating agricultural tractors and field equipment.

- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, and drive systems.

- Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and perform field repairs independently.

- Ability to read mechanical drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.

- Experience using hand tools, power tools, workshop equipment, and diagnostic tools.

- Welding, fabrication, or machining experience is an advantage.

- Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) is required. This role works closely with engineering teams in the United States and China while supporting Australian customers.

- Valid Australian Driver's Licence with a clean driving record.

- Forklift, telehandler, or heavy equipment operating experience is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs).

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work around agricultural machinery for extended periods.

- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, dust, and uneven terrain.

- Willingness to travel extensively throughout Australia and internationally.

Travel Requirements

This role requires frequent travel throughout Australia to support:

- Customer deployments

- Machine servicing and maintenance

- Equipment demonstrations

- Field trials

- Grower training

- Trade shows and agricultural events

The successful candidate will also travel to California, USA, for initial product training and may periodically return to the United States for advanced technical training, engineering collaboration, product development, and field support.
