Role Description This is a full time (or part-time), on-site Mechatronics Engineer role based in Silverwater, NSW. The Mechatronics Engineer will design, develop, and integrate hydraulic and electronic machine control systems for industrial applications. Day-to-day activities include:
- PLC Programming
- Electrical System Diagnostics and Testing
- Human Machine Interface Design
- Electrical System / Layout Design
- Hydraulic System Design
- R&D; for exciting upcoming control systems!
The role primarily involves building and testing prototype solutions, troubleshooting and optimizing control systems,
and preparing technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and service guides. The engineer will also support installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities, liaise with clients to resolve technical issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of existing products and processes.
What You Bring:
- A Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Mechatronics Engineering (or final-year undergraduate mechatronics engineer)
- Proficiency in coding, preferably with experience in Python and low level (C) programming
- Strong foundational electrical skills, including circuit design and diagnostics
- Ability to read and produce technical engineering drawings, schematics and circuit diagrams
- A strong interest in machine control systems
Bonuses:
- Experience with PLC programming
- Experience with automotive electronic components
- Familiarity with common industrial/automotive communication protocols (particularly CANbus - J1939)
- Basic understanding of fluid dynamics and hydraulic systems
- Experience with mechanical design, CAD or DraftSight
- Experience programming with Function Block Diagrams, Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or other common PLC programming languages
