About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated MED 2 (Marine Engine Driver Grade 2) to play a pivotal role in the day-to-day safe and efficient operation of our Aquaculture vessels. Candidates who hold a relevant Trade Certificate are encouraged to apply. The position is based in beautiful Port Lincoln and reports to the Marine Operations Manager.
Working closely with the Vessel Master, the role is responsible for all mechanical equipment, as well as pre-starts, shutdowns, and daily maintenance. This is a hands-on position requiring, clear communication, physical fitness and the ability to work as part of an integrated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete daily mechanical checks, maintenance and repairs.
- Prepare maintenance reports, technical documentation, and logbooks.
- Conduct preventative maintenance schedules to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Complete corrective action reporting for safety issues.
- Ensure compliance with maritime safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain vessel’s engineering diary i.e. maintenance scheduling, hours run, breakdowns etc.
- The re-fuelling of vessel in a safe manner.
- Assist with cleaning duties at the end of shift.
- Communicate with the Vessel Master and maintenance department regarding any defects that affect the performance and safety of the vessel.
Qualifications/Experience
- MED 2 (Marine Engine Driver Grade 2) or relevant Trade Certificate.
- Solid mechanical background.
- Experience in marine engineering, preferably in commercial or aquaculture operations.
- Commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
- Demonstrated knowledge of marine propulsion systems, hydraulics, electrical systems and auxiliary machinery.
- Strong problem-solving ability and capacity to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Committed to high performing WHS and Quality standards.
- Able to demonstrate a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificates.
- Current Driver's License.
- Unrestricted work rights within Australia essential.
