THE ROLE The Media Officer will support the team to plan and deliver qualified, high-quality media materials and projects in line with the department's strategic priorities.
The role is responsible for developing and implementing proactive media strategies to promote the positive outcomes achieved by the department's programs and policies and working with key stakeholders within and external to the department. They will collaborate with teams across the branch to create compelling media, communications and event products for a range of purposes and audiences, including media plans, media releases, proactive story ideas and responses to media enquiries.
The Media Officer is required to work closely and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the accuracy of all information, with an ability to work on multiple projects and deadlines.
As appropriate, they may also be required to provide surge support to other portfolios or teams to ensure effective media support can be delivered by Public Engagement during peak periods.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Supported by the media manager, contribute to the development, delivery and evaluation of media materials, activities and strategies.
- Provide media advice and work collaboratively across the department to ensure the delivery of effective media materials that are of a high written and visual standard, which comply with departmental and whole-of-Victorian Government guidelines.
- Identify and work collaboratively to increase the effectiveness of the department's communications.
