Due to growing demand for our Energy Sustainability Design (ESD) services, we’re seeking a talented ESD Consultant to join our Sydney-based team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects that shape sustainable building design and make a real impact in the industry.

The Role

The ESD Consultant will provide technical advice in all matters relating to sustainability in building design and use, including BASIX, Section J DTS Assessments and J1V3 Assessments, NABERS&Green; Star, liaising directly with clients, Certifiers and assisting our Building Surveyors in providing value engineering opportunities to our clients.This role contributes to the growth and development of the business through excellence in service delivery, mentoring, winning new business and client satisfaction.

What You’ll Do

Support the senior ESD consultants in project delivery, in relation to Section J of the BCA, BASIXCertification,NatHERSModelling, NABERSRatings, GreenstarConsultancy, Hygrothermal Modelling, EmbodiedCarbonand the like.

Assistance in the application of ESD provisions of the Building Regulations to project designs and developments.

Participation in negotiations with Building Regulatory Authorities.

ESD surveys

Assistance in the selection of materials and construction methods to achieve compliance with the ESD provisions of the Building Regulations and providing design options to satisfy the relevant Building Regulations.





Develop performance solutions, technical reports, and regulatory submissions that meet client and statutory requirements.

Collaboration on projects from concept to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.

Build strong client relationships through clear communication, expert advice, and proactive service.

Mentor junior surveyors and consultants, fostering technical growth and professional development.

Support business development through proposal writing, fee estimates, and identifying new opportunities.

What You Bring

Minimum 2 years’ experience experience in sustainability consulting for compliance with the National Construction Code and relevant government standards& benchmark rating schemes

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Sustainability or Architecture

Proficient in thermal comfort modelling using BERS Pro/HERO software.

Experience with BASIX assessments, Section J Deemed-to-Satisfy assessments, JV3 performance solutions using the IES VE software.

Proficient in BERS/HERO and J1V3 modelling and compliance.

Knowledge of IES

Robust report writing skills.

Ability to collaborate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.

Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
