The Role
We are seeking an experienced Metallurgy Superintendent to be a confident and competent person to direct and guide the metallurgical and lab team members to achieve all tasks, works and dealing with an emphasis on Safety, Productivity, Quality and Cost Effectiveness.
Reporting to the Processing Manager, you will work with Operations, Maintenance, Electrical, Engineering, Geology, Mining and Finance peers and provide timely delivery of reports, forecast and budgets.
The roster for this position is a 5 days on 2 days off, 4 days on and 3 days off 9 hour day roster. Subsidised housing will be provided in Cobar and full relocation costs to relocate to Cobar.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and guide the metallurgical and lab team members to ensure the plant performance is maintained at or above the required KPI’s on a daily basis
- Ensure team KPIs are completed to the agreed-on metrics and performance management for any non-compliances are in place and effective
- Work with Lab supervisor to ensure all lab operations are completed effectively and to a high accuracy standard supported by QC program
- Management of Mill liners orders, relines planning and execution.
- Lead and/or participate in relevant incident investigations and corrective actions implementations
- Provide sound technical explanations for variances to Budget/Forecast physicals and costs
- Provide technical metallurgical support for all aspects of the business
- Provide and review all gold accounting to ensure accuracy and heavily involved in gold room operation, production and dispatch.
- Management of the required manning levels across the metallurgists, Gold room operations and Lab operations
- Build and maintain respectful relationship with the Commercial personnel responsible for concentrate sales and logistics to ensure all concentrates produced are within
- TML and is inside specified sales agreement terms
- Optimising plant performance for all aspects of metal production, accounting and implementing continuous improvement programs
- Communicate and liaise as required daily with laboratory, metallurgical team, mill operations, mine operations and maintenance personnel to ensure targets are achieved
- Ensure all relevant information is provided to the Mill Manager in a timely manner
- Maintaining and meeting cost of areas of responsibility to within the budget requirements
- Take effective role in the Mine production scheduling to ensure Mine to Mill understanding is achieved and ore presented to the Mill is pre planned and any shortfalls in production can be utilised for maintenance ore other resource treatment
- Leadership and Mill Manager relief where required for the processing department
- Ensure Capital Projects justification, scoping, CER submissions and project execution are on time and aligned to the issued budget and forecasts schedule& cost.
About You
- Strong Metallurgical background with Polymetallic Ore flotation experience
- Sound knowledge of gravity circuits, flotation, thickeners, filtration, cyanide leach, CIP, elution, electrowinning and tailings disposal
- Sound knowledge of mills – SAG and ball
- Proven Leadership experience
- Bachelor of Engineering – Metallurgy or equivalent +8 years experience in a process plant setting.
