The Opportunity
This is an 18-month non-ongoing contract with the potential to transition to a permanent role or gain an extension.
Existing APS5 or APS6 employees may also be considered for an 18-month temporary transfer or secondment.
While experience in a Federal Government agency is highly regarded, this role also provides a positive opportunity for individuals with private sector management accounting experience to move into the Federal Government.

The Role
As an APS6 Management Account, you will be:
- Preparing internal budgets, financial analysis, perform the mid-year budget review, and support financial planning and decision-making
- Delivering monthly reporting, including CFO reports, capital expenditure tracking, and budget performance reviews
- Managing grant acquittal reporting for externally funded projects, ensuring compliance with funding requirements
- Preparing reports in accordance with Department of Finance requirements
- Maintaining external reporting requirements in CBMS, including budget estimates and monthly profiles
The Ideal Person
You are a CA/CPA qualified accountant, or working towards it, with a tertiary qualification in accounting or a related field.
You may be an experienced management accountant, finance business partner, or financial accountant looking to move into a small federal government agency.
Proficiency in Excel and CBMS is desirable.
You may come from one of the following backgrounds:
- Experience in a Big 4 or other consulting firm at Consultant or Senior Consultant/Analyst level
- Previous or current APS6 experience in the Federal Government with expertise in management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Experience in a large commercial or not-for-profit organisation or university as a senior management accountant or above
To be eligible, you must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
Salary / Rate
- $95k – $110k + 15.4% Super
- Salary match for substantive APS6 within APS
