About the Physiotherapy role

This role is a full time, community-based physiotherapy employee position in Bankstown and surrounding suburbs, in Sydney.

It would suit either a new grad or a physio with experience; and support, opportunity and remuneration will be adjusted accordingly. Please still apply if you are only wanting part time work - we'd love to have you!

The desirable applicant will be one who is looking for a well developed physiotherapy department within a successful multidisciplinary team that builds a firm foundation of clinical practice in a supportive environment. They would also be looking for exceptional senior physiotherapy mentors who are both knowledgeable and generous with their time, a disability-specific 5-year professional development program offering 40 hours of support a year, monthly in-person group-based career development and monthly real-world case study based clinical supervision.

The successful applicant will receive all of the onboarding support they need via our 16-week onboarding program with their clinical manager. They will then move onto our 2-yr disability generalist PD program so that they have all the disability foundational knowledge they need to specialise in this space. Finally, they will move into our specialist program where they will choose their area of expertise within disability, develop an individualised PD plan that Active Ability with support them to achieve,

both financially and in work time to become the expert and ‘go to’ in that area!

What can Active Ability offer a physiotherapist?

- Continue to build your expertise in disability – disability is our team’s core focus and each of our team members have their own expertise.
- A focus on professional development (PD) – commence your 5-year PD program (40hrs per year) plus attend a minimum of 4 events annually with our entire team, additional in-services and an individual Professional Development plan focused on developing your expertise.
- Mentoring from Active Ability’s senior physiotherapists – Mentorship and support from senior clinicians and directors through clinical supervision, in-services, case reviews, PD and skill development sessions that will broaden your skill set and experiences.
- An incredibly rewarding role – you will be a valued and important part of your client’s life. You will build relationships with your clients and their stakeholders, and you will be rewarded when seeing them achieve their goals.
- The opportunity to manage a complex case load – your knowledge and skills will be challenged every day in order to support your clients safely and effectively to achieve their goals because of the barriers they unfortunately face due to their health, function and disability. Spinal Cord Injury, Parkinson's Disease, Motor Neuron Disease, Huntington's Disease, Cerebral Palsy and other rare neurological disorders are part of our daily caseloads.
- A changing client base – because we are a capacity building service, you will see significant variety day-to-day and week-to-week in your caseload (not to mention, our clients age from 0 years to 65 years old!). The fact that we are a capacity building service means that we see client’s only as much as necessary and then discharge – there are no maintenance services here!
- An amazing team of like-minded clinicians - Join an amazing team culture, full of passion, drive and fun. We all have the same mission or focus that we work by -to support people with disability to achieve optimal independence, health and quality of life.
- The opportunity to engage in multidisciplinary collaboration– collaboration is crucial to the success of your intervention in disability – meet regularly with behaviour support therapists, speech therapists, OTs, support workers, support coordinators and GPs, not to mention dietitians and exercise physiologists.

- Expect a flexible work environment - we spend more time at work than anywhere else, so you need to love what you do (passion), and you need to work in a fabulous team that values your contribution. Work from home, manage your own diary (attend appointments if you need), work independently but seek support and assistance from management when you need it.

Your responsibilities will include:

- The successful applicant will provide mobile physiotherapy services to Active Ability’s clients in Sydney.
- Assess and treat clients in their own home, to carry out rehabilitation programs to improve functional independence and quality of life.
- Provide face to face and occasional tele-support to clients in community settings. Specifically, hydrotherapy, land-based, in the home or in the community, group homes, day programs.
