Your New Career

This is a hands-on Senior Bookkeeper role with meaningful responsibility from day one. You will manage the firm’s activity statement lodgment program, coordinate workflow and deadlines, review work prepared by junior and offshore accountants, and provide practical coaching to help the team deliver accurate, review-ready work on time.

For the right person, this role offers more than a traditional bookkeeping career path. Following successful completion of probation and subject to demonstrated performance, cultural fit and commercial alignment, there is scope to help establish and lead a dedicated bookkeeping firm, with the potential to participate in equity under a separately agreed arrangement

Key Responsibilities

- Own and manage the firm’s activity statement lodgment program, including workflow planning, deadline monitoring and escalation of risks or delays
- Prepare and review BAS, IAS, GST,



PAYG withholding, PAYG instalment and related compliance work across a multi-client portfolio
- Review work prepared by junior and offshore accountants, provide clear feedback and ensure files are accurate, complete and ready for lodgment
- Mentor, train and support junior and offshore team members, including improving technical capability, consistency and accountability
- Manage end-to-end bookkeeping, including bank and general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing and month-end reporting
- Liaise directly with clients to obtain information, resolve discrepancies and provide responsive, professional support
- Maintain strong quality-control, documentation and review processes consistent with the firm’s professional obligations
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, standardise processes and increase efficiency across the bookkeeping function
- Contribute to the planning, establishment and future growth of a dedicated bookkeeping business

Who We’re Looking For We are looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper who combines strong technical capability with leadership potential and a commercial mindset.

- Substantial bookkeeping experience, ideally within public practice or a multi-client environment
- Robust working knowledge of GST, BAS, IAS, PAYG withholding, payroll, superannuation and reconciliations
- Proven ability to manage a lodgment program, competing deadlines and a high-volume workflow
- Experience reviewing others’ work and mentoring junior or offshore team members
- High attention to detail, sound professional judgement and a commitment to quality
- Confident,



professional communication skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships
- An entrepreneurial outlook and genuine interest in helping build and lead a bookkeeping business

Requirements

- Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, or an equivalent relevant qualification
- Registered BAS Agent status is highly regarded, or the qualifications and experience needed to work towards registration
- Advanced proficiency in Xero; experience with MYOB and other cloud accounting and workflow systems is advantageous
- Australian working rights
- Ability to work effectively under a hybrid arrangement, combining time in our Spring Hill office with working from home, and to collaborate closely with local and offshore team members
