Role Description The Senior Commercial Manager – Rail Victoria will lead commercial, contractual, and financial aspects of major rail projects, ensuring outcomes align with client objectives and government requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and overseeing commercial strategies, managing contracts and procurement processes, and supporting business planning and project approvals. The role will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor team members, and work closely with client stakeholders to manage risk, performance, and project governance.
Reporting and analysis of project commercial performance, including budget oversight and value-for-money assessments,
will be a regular part of the role. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Melbourne, VIC, with flexibility for some work from home.
Qualifications Strong Commercial Management and Business Planning skills, with experience overseeing commercial strategies for large infrastructure or rail projects.
Proficient Contract Management capabilities, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administering complex commercial agreements.
Advanced Analytical Skills, with the ability to interpret financial and project data, conduct commercial risk assessments, and provide clear recommendations.
Demonstrated Team Management experience, including leadership, mentoring, and coordination of multidisciplinary project teams.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce, business, law, engineering, or a related field.
Experience working with transport, government, or major infrastructure programs in Victoria or similar jurisdictions.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
Robust organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within project deadlines.
