Senior Security Operations Specialist

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Security Operations Specialistto join its Cyber Security team. This is a hands-on technical role focused on monitoring, detecting, investigating, and responding to cyber threats across cloud and enterprise environments.

Working with technologies including Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender, you will strengthen security operations through threat hunting, incident response, detection engineering, automation, vulnerability management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

We are considering applications from candidates located in NSW, ACT, QLD, WA.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor, detect, investigate, and respond to cyber security incidents.
- Develop and tune analytics rules, alerts, dashboards, and detection use cases in Microsoft Sentinel.
- Conduct proactive threat hunting and utilise threat intelligence to improve detection capabilities.
- Perform incident triage, root cause analysis, containment, and remediation activities.
- Develop automation playbooks and scripts to enhance security operations.
- Manage vulnerabilities and support remediation across cloud and enterprise environments.
- Maintain and optimise security tools, monitoring platforms, and operational documentation.
- Collaborate with development, DevOps, and security teams to embed and improve security controls.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in hands-on cyber security operations, incident response, threat analysis, and investigations.
- Solid experience with SIEM/SOAR platforms, preferably Microsoft Sentinel, including KQL,



analytics rules, alert tuning, and dashboard development.
- Experience with security automation and scripting.
- Knowledge of cloud security, preferably within Microsoft Azure environments.
- Understanding of cyber security frameworks and government security requirements, including the ISM and Essential Eight.
- NV1 clearance preferred, ability to maintain mandatory
- Must attend the office two days per week
