Our client has an immediate need for a Senior Financial Accountant to join their Financial Operations team for six months, with real exposure to the processes, systems and people that keep a large financial services organisation running.

About our client

Our client is a large Australian financial services group that is growing rapidly. The financial reporting team is small enough that you will own deliverables outright and work directly with the senior leader accountable for them, and it sits close to investment operations, so reporting work is visible and connected to decisions that have impact.

About the role

Reporting to the Financial Operations Manager, you will support the team through a busy period of BAU processing and system change, including the rollout of a new payments platform. It is a hands-on role: you will be doing the work, not just observing it, with a manager and team who are invested in helping you build capability quickly.

What you'll be doing

- Supporting end-to-end financial operations, including accounts payable, intercompany invoicing,



statutory payments such as PAYG and insurance, and payroll-related accounting, with a focus on accuracy across busy reconciliation cycles
- Preparing month-end journals and working through variances with outsourced administrators, building a practical understanding of financial reporting timetables
- Helping maintain documented processes and control routines, and raising and resolving issues as they come up
- Contributing to the implementation of a new payments system and its transition to business-as-usual, with opportunities to suggest and help build process improvements

What you'll bring

- A degree in business, finance, commerce or accounting (or equivalent experience), plus some hands-on exposure to financial operations, accounts payable or reconciliations, gained in financial services, professional services or a similar environment
- Strong attention to detail, and genuine curiosity about how a large financial organisation manages its money end to end
