Role Description The Senior Gas and Pipeline Engineer – Victoria is a full time, hybrid role based in Melbourne, VIC The role involves leading gas and pipeline engineering activities for regulatory and government infrastructure projects, includinng technical leadership, qualified advisory, onsite works, and feasibility studies. The engineer will perform client side technical advice,, review designs, PM advice, support for program services and safety, and provide expert input on gas pipeline management and risk mitigation.
Responsibilities include preparing technical reports, working with clients, advising project teams on standards and regulatory compliance, and coordinating with multidisciplinary stakeholders and external partners.
The role also includes mentoring engineers, supporting project planning, and contributing to continuous improvement in engineering practices and advisory services.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Victorian Pipeline Engineering and Pipeline Design, including experience with gas transmission and distribution systems.
- Demonstrated skills in Pipeline Integrity and Corrosion management, with a focus on safety, reliability, and lifecycle performance.
- Advanced ability to perform and review engineering Calculations related to stress analysis, flow, pressure, and structural performance.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Civil, or Petroleum Engineering (or a closely related discipline).
- Experience working on infrastructure projects, preferably within transport, utilities, or government sectors.
- Familiarity with Australian standards and regulatory frameworks for gas and pipeline systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work effectively in hybrid environments, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and managing competing priorities.
- Professional registration or eligibility for membership with a relevant engineering body is advantageous.
