Caulfield Grammar Schoolemphasisesproviding diverse domestic and international experiences for secondary students, particularly through theYarraJunction and Kakadu Programs. The Kakadu Program, developed with theMirarrTraditional Owners and Jabiru Area School, offers a unique blend of Outdoor Education, cultural immersion, and service learning in Kakadu National Park. The program aims to broaden students' perspectives on land use, governance, andIndigenous cultures.
The Kakadu Program is based in Jabiru and is a residential, experiential learning program delivered across Kakadu,Katherineand Darwin. It provides young people with structured educational, cultural, and personal development experiences, supported by teaching staff, coaches, outdoor education personnel, and trainees.
Jabiru is a small towns ship located in the heart ofKakadu National Park, Northern Territory. Originally established in the early 1980s to support the Ranger Uranium Mine, Jabiru has evolved into the main service hub for the region.
Jabiru is also a gateway for visitors exploring Kakadu’s cultural and natural attractions, combining a close-knit community lifestyle with unique access to one of Australia’s most significant natural environments.

We’reseeking aDeputy Head ofKakaduProgram,an experienced leader who brings both heart and grit to the delivery of transformative outdoor learning experiences.
In this role,you’lldriveourYear9 KakaduProgramsthrough immersive journeys that foster growth, resilience, and connection tocountry.You’lllead with clarity and care, ensuring safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environments while managing the complexities of student wellbeing and program delivery.
Your leadership will be hands-on and people-focused,supporting teachers, trainees,guests, and operational staff through coaching, collaboration, and decision-making. Whether mentoring residential trainees,facilitatingnature-based activities, or responding to challenges in the field,you’llset the tone for a culture built on respect, curiosity, and shared purpose.

Key Duties
- Lead the planning and smooth execution of the Year 9 Kakadu Program working closely with the Head of Kakadu Program and Leader Teacher to ensure consistent learning outcomes.
- Champion student wellbeing through proactive and responsive strategies across medical, pastoral,behaviouraland learning needs.
- Ensure effective communication and incident tracking through oversight of the Communication Book.
- Build and manage staffing rosters for each group,maintainingcompliance with operational guidelines.
- Represent and promotetheKakaduProgram within local communities, strengthening relationships and visibility.
- Provide steady leadership and uphold the quality of student experiences and Caulfield Grammar School’s reputation in the Northern Territory.
- Be a visible and trusted presence acrossKakadu Programs,setting the tone for a safe,inclusiveandvalues-driven learning environment.
- Model the Caulfield Grammar School values andbehaviours.
Selection Criteria
- Proven ability to design and deliver impactful learning experiences in remote and challenging environments.
- Confidence inrepresentingand promoting Caulfield Grammar School within local communities.
- Ability to create learning programs in challenging field-basedcomponentthat align with broader curriculum goals.
- Strongorganisationalcapability instaff rostering andmanaging complexprogrammingschedules and timelines.
- Experience leading residential programs or co-educational boarding environments with care and consistencywith a focus on student wellbeing.
- Teaching qualificationsand currentteacher registration
