Job Description
Lead Practice Nurse $45–$50 per hour + super | Monday to Friday | Full-time or flexible part-time A meaningful nursing leadership role that still leaves room for life outside work Lutwyche Family Practice is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to lead our nursing service in a warm, independent and doctor-owned general practice.
This is a stable weekday position with no evening work and no weekends. We are seeking someone full-time, although permanent part-time hours may be considered for the right person. We understand that experienced nurses often have family, caring and other commitments, and we are open to discussing a practical arrangement that works for both you and the practice.
You will combine hands‑on general practice nursing with genuine leadership responsibility. You will be trusted to guide our nursing team, strengthen chronic condition and preventive care, and improve the systems that support safe, organised patient care. You will work directly with our Practice Manager and two Principal GPs, who are present, approachable and actively involved in the practice.
There are no unnecessary corporate layers. Your ideas will be heard, and you will have support to turn sensible improvements into action.

What you will lead
This is a hands‑on role that includes clinical nursing alongside responsibility for the day‑to‑day nursing service.
You will coordinate treatment‑room systems, priorities and standards strengthen chronic condition management, health assessments, recalls and preventive care support immunisations, wound care, procedures and other general practice nursing oversee cold chain, infection prevention, emergency readiness, clinical stock and equipment contribute to accreditation, incident review and quality improvement improve nursing documentation, templates and workflows in Best Practice Premier help develop practical nurse‑led and nurse‑coordinated services
You will not be expected to arrive with every answer. We are looking for someone who can understand what is working, identify what needs attention and build improvements collaboratively and sustainably.
About you
You may be a strong fit if you: are an experienced general practice or primary healthcare RN are ready to take genuine ownership of a nursing service
enjoy supporting other nurses and creating transparent, consistent standards have sound experience in chronic care, health assessments, immunisation, wound care and treatment‑room nursing can work confidently and respectfully with GPs, reception and practice leadership
are organised, clinically credible and comfortable raising concerns enjoy improving systems rather
