Senior Investigator Clerk Grade: Clerk Grade 7/8
Employment Type: Ongoing, 2 x full-time and talent pool Salary Range: $116,981 - $129,492 per annum + Superannuation
Location: Hybrid work arrangements, Parramatta or Gosford. Office attendance required 2–3 days per week. About the role
We are looking for motivated and experienced individuals to join NSW Fair Trading as Senior Investigators in the Strata and Property Services branch. The role investigates responsible breaches of property, conveyancing and licensing laws across NSW and helps support appropriate enforcement action. What you’ll be doing
Plan, conduct and lead investigations into alleged breaches of property, conveyancing and licensing laws
Gather and assess evidence to support enforcement and prosecution outcomes
Conduct structured interviews with respondents and witnesses
Prepare briefs of evidence, reports and findings in line with legislative and procedural requirements
Provide clear advice and reporting on investigative matters
Work with internal and external stakeholders to support fair and consistent regulatory outcomes.
About you
Demonstrated experience conducting complex, high-volume investigations
Understanding of compliance, enforcement and administrative law
Ability to interpret legislation and apply sound judgement and decision-making
Possess strong analytical, organisational and communication skills
Strong understanding of investigative processes, rules of evidence, and brief preparation
Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Essential criteria
Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or equivalent experience/willingness to obtain)
Understanding of investigative principles, rules of evidence, and brief preparation A current NSW driver’s licence and the ability to travel when required.
