Beacon Legal have partnered with a leading health & life sciences business in their search for an Interim Legal Counsel. They are looking to hire an experienced commercial lawyer for a 6 month contract, based in Sydney.

We’re seeking a confident and versatile commercial lawyer to join an established in-house legal team during a period of increased workload. The role will support several key areas of the business, including global marketing, regulatory compliance, research and development, and general commercial operations.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can quickly understand the business, take ownership of an active workload and provide clear, commercially sound advice to stakeholders across multiple functions. You will join an experienced and collaborative legal team within a high-calibre and purposeful organisation.

About the Role

- Review marketing, advertising and promotional materials for compliance with applicable healthcare and therapeutic goods requirements.
- Advise the marketing and regulatory teams on the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code and related legal considerations.
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including IT, technology, services, procurement and supplier contracts.
- Support legal matters connected with research and development, product initiatives and regulatory compliance.




- Work closely with stakeholders across global marketing, compliance, commercial and operational teams.
- Manage competing priorities and provide responsive legal support across a varied portfolio of matters.
- Assist the legal team with business-as-usual work while the organisation reviews its longer-term team structure.

What type of person will be successful?
- Admitted as a lawyer in Australia.
- An experienced commercial lawyer with a background in private practice, in-house or both.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing marketing and advertising materials in a regulated sector.
- Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code or broader TGA experience will be highly regarded.
- Strong general commercial contracting experience, including technology and IT agreements.
- Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for matters from the outset.
- Explicit, measured and commercially focused in their advice.
- Able to build trust quickly with senior stakeholders and work effectively across different business functions.
- Available to commence at short notice.
