- Deciding whether the current approach gets refined or torn up and rebuilt, because both are on the table

- Genuine data governance leadership experience in a regulated financial services workplace
- Fluency in the regulatory landscape, not just familiarity, fluency
- Someone who can operate independently and take real ownership, because this function needs a driver, not a passenger
- A track record of building trust with people who don't naturally trust "governance" people
