Aura Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis. Based in Baringa, QLD 4551, this role is essential to the smooth operation of our veterinary practice. As the first point of contact for our clients and their beloved pets, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and professional environment whilst ensuring that our veterinary services run efficiently. This position offers the flexibility of part-time work, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance whilst making a meaningful contribution to animal welfare and client satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
- Greeting clients and their pets with warmth and professionalism, ensuring a positive first impression
- Managing reception duties including answering phone calls, booking appointments and handling enquiries in a timely manner
- Processing client payments and maintaining accurate financial records using veterinary practice management software
- Maintaining detailed and accurate patient records and medical histories
- Scheduling appointments efficiently to optimise veterinary staff time and client convenience
- Assisting with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing and correspondence
- Supporting veterinary staff during consultations and procedures as required
- Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming reception area that reflects the practice's high standards
- Providing general information about veterinary services, treatments and preventative care to clients
- Handling sensitive situations with empathy,
particularly when clients are dealing with pet health concerns or end-of-life care
What we're looking for
- Previous experience working in a veterinary practice, animal healthcare facility or customer-facing healthcare environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse clients
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in using computer systems and veterinary practice management software, or a willingness to learn
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing compassionate care
- Ability to remain calm and composed when dealing with anxious or distressed clients and animals
- Attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when recording medical information and financial transactions
- Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to accommodate practice scheduling needs
- A customer service-focused mindset with a commitment to exceeding client expectations
