Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware using C/C++ and Python
- Develop real-time applications using RTOS environments (such as FreeRTOS) and embedded Linux
- Develop firmware for platforms such as STM32, nRF, and ESP32 for IoT solutions, with productive RTOS task management in safety-critical or high-reliability environments
- Work closely with hardware, including microcontrollers, peripherals, communication interfaces, and sensors
- Design and implement firmware architectures and solutions that are scalable, reliable, and maintainable
- Debug complex hardware/software interactions
- Support verification, validation, and product release activities
- Contribute to engineering standards, documentation, and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience developing embedded firmware in C/C++ with at least 3 years of hands-on experience
- Have experience with all stages of the product development cycle, concept development, R&D;,
design and planning
- Hands-on experience with FreeRTOS on ESP32, STM32, and nRF MCUs
- Solid understanding of embedded systems fundamentals, including:
- Interrupt handling and Watchdog Timers (WDT)
- Memory management
- Experience with hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, RS485, UART, CAN, etc.)
- Experience working with microcontrollers and embedded debugging tools
- Ability to read schematics and collaborate effectively with hardware teams
- · Quality-focused with a fail-fast mindset and strong attention to detail
- · Unrestricted Australian working rights
Nice to have
- Experience in regulated, safety-critical, or high-reliability environments product development
- Python scripting or automated testing experience
- Basic hardware troubleshooting skills
- Experience implementing MQTT
- Experience with mesh-based IoT networks using Ble, LoRa, or UWB
- Experience with firmware development processes, version control, and CI/CD pipelines
