Farmchief Machinery Ltd is seeking a Service Technician to join their Invercargill team. This is a hands-on opportunity with a strong focus on welding, mechanical servicing, and carrying out repairs and maintenance on agricultural machinery across the region.

About the Role

You'll be responsible for carrying out fabrication, welding, diagnostics, servicing, repairs, and maintenance on customer and dealer‑owned agricultural machinery. Assist with field service as required.

Key responsibilities include:

- Carry out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs across a diverse range of agricultural machinery.
- Test and assess machinery, accurately identifying faults and clearly communicating findings to customers and management.
- Utilise electronic monitors, diagnostic software, and computer systems to calibrate, troubleshoot, and optimise equipment performance.
- Replace parts as required while maintaining accurate records of all work completed.
- Provide regular updates to the manager on job progress, priorities, and expected timeframes.




- Order required parts to ensure repairs are completed efficiently and within agreed schedules.
- Maintain strong customer communication by explaining completed work and recommending additional repairs or preventative maintenance where required.
- Work collaboratively as part of a supportive team, sharing knowledge, assisting colleagues, and maintaining respectful relationships with both staff and customers
- Travel across the Southland region.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in producing high-quality results, and has strong fabrication and welding capability.

- Experience in an engineering, mechanical, automotive, or service technician role
- A trade qualification in engineering, fabrication, mechanical, or automotive (preferred but not essential)
- Robust skills in measuring, cutting, reading drawings, and fabricating components
- Experience working with Agricultural machinery.
- Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- A positive attitude with a strong work ethic
- A professional, customer-focused approach
- Honesty, reliability, and integrity
- A full, clean driver's licence
