Metal Mates Hunter is seeking a reliable and hardworking Yard Person to join our team in Cessnock, NSW. This is a full-time position based on-site at our facility. As a Yard Person, you will be a vital member of our operations team, responsible for maintaining our yard, managing materials, and supporting the smooth running of our daily operations. This role offers the opportunity to work in a practical environment where your contributions directly impact the efficiency and safety of our workplace.

Key responsibilities

- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe yard environment at all times
- Sorting, stacking and storing materials in designated areas according to operational requirements
- Loading and unloading materials from vehicles using appropriate equipment and manual handling techniques
- Operating yard equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks
- Assisting with inventory management and stock rotation to ensure materials are readily accessible
- Monitoring yard security and reporting any issues or discrepancies to management
- Performing general maintenance tasks around the yard including sweeping, tidying and minor repairs
- Supporting other team members and assisting with ad-hoc tasks as required
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations and company policies

What we're looking for

- To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualities and experience:
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labour tasks throughout the working day
- Ability to work outdoors - all seasons
- A strong commitment to health and safety standards and best practices
- Reliability and punctuality - Essential
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team




- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for record-keeping and inventory management
- Attention to detail and organisational skills to maintain an efficient yard environment
- Experience in a yard, warehouse or similar labouring environment is highly desirable
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and processes
- Valid Australian driver's licence is essential
- Truck License not essential but preferable
