We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong C++ expertise to help design, develop and deploy software for autonomous systems operating in real-world environments.

This is a hands-on technical role where you'll work across perception, planning, localisation, control and platform software, collaborating with a multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver reliable, production-quality software.

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on with software development.

You'll contribute to the design, implementation and optimisation of software across multiple autonomy domains including:

- Perception

- Localisation

- Motion Planning

- Vehicle Control





- Platform Software

Working closely with software, systems and robotics engineers, you'll help deliver robust software from development and simulation through to deployment.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop high-quality C++ software for autonomous systems

- Build scalable, maintainable software architectures

- Translate research and prototype algorithms into production software

- Mentor engineers through code reviews and technical guidance

- Collaborate with software, robotics, AI and systems engineers

- Integrate software with sensors, compute platforms and vehicle communication networks

- Troubleshoot software across development, simulation and field environments

- Improve software quality through testing, automation and continuous integration

- Contribute to architecture, technical standards and engineering best practices

About You

You'll be an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical problems and building reliable, high-performance software.

Required

- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)

- 5+ years' experience developing commercial software

- Solid C++ development experience





- Experience developing complex software systems

- Linux development experience

- Strong understanding of software architecture and design

- Multithreaded and concurrent programming

- Debugging and performance optimisation

Highly Desirable

Experience with one or more of:

- Python

- ROS / ROS2

- LiDAR, radar or computer vision

- Sensor fusion

- Motion planning

- Vehicle control

- Mapping and localisation

- Embedded systems

- Simulation (SIL/HIL)

- GPU computing

- Robotics or autonomous systems

- Mining, construction, defence, agriculture or industrial automation

- Functional safety or safety-critical software
