The Opportunity
Join CIMIC's centralised Tax team and support a diverse portfolio of businesses operating across Australia and internationally.
The Tax Accountant role sits within a highly experienced tax function and will support the Group's tax compliance, reporting, governance and advisory activities across a broad range of Australian and international tax matters.
This is an excellent opportunity for an all-rounder to build depth across income tax, GST, FBT, withholding taxes, tax reporting and broader tax governance within a large, complex group.
Key Responsibilities
- Support tax compliance obligations across CIMIC Group and its operating companies, covering both direct and indirect tax matters
- Prepare and assist with tax compliance activities including income tax, GST, FBT, TPAR, withholding tax and other Australian tax requirements
- Assist with tax calculations, workpapers, reconciliations and supporting schedules across multiple tax types
- Support quarterly, half-year and year-end tax reporting and tax effect accounting processes
- Prepare reconciliations,
analysis and supporting documentation for compliance and reporting requirements
- Liaise with finance teams across the Group to gather, review and analyse information for tax compliance, reporting and advisory purposes
- Support tax governance, risk management and process improvement initiatives
- Assist with responses to ATO, auditor and regulatory requests
- Contribute to tax advisory activities and special projects as required
About You
- Experience in tax, accounting or finance with exposure to Australian tax compliance and a willingness to develop as a broad-based tax professional across income tax, GST, FBT and other tax obligations
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Commerce, Business or a related discipline
- CPA qualified, or working towards completion
- Comfortable working with financial data, reconciliations and compliance processes
- Curious, resourceful and enjoy a collaborative team environment
- You bring a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
- You thrive in commercially complex environments (with any similar industry experience viewed favourably)
